Delaray wetlands
Encompassing 6.6 hectares of treatment basins, habitat planting, picnic amenities and playground facilities, Delaray wetlands have transformed a previously eroded gully into extensive parklands and a functional waterway as part of the Clyde Creek system. The project was built on a holistic approach to bring the natural world into a developing community with quality design, materials, and user experiences. Visitors are immersed into the wetlands from off-road pedestrian and cycle links that drop down from neighbouring streets to hug the wetland edge. A strategic path network encompassing a 200 metre boardwalk is book-ended by lookout platforms encouraging interaction with the natural ecology. Winner of the 2023 UDIA VIC Conservation Category Award of Excellence.
